In order for transformation to take place in any area of your life – be it your body, relationships, wealth, or career – it must first begin within your mind. The shedding of an old way of thinking is necessary in order to experience a new breakthrough. This is what Jesus was referring to when he talked about the “wineskin.”
And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.
Luke 5:37-38
When it comes to living a fulfilling life, we must be willing to self-reflect, change our belief(s) where necessary, and move on in the new belief. This new belief is needed to move you into any new territory in your life
For many of you this new territory is a healing. It will require you to renounce the old belief (I’m going to be sick, unhealthy, and unhappy) and to accept and anchor yourself in a new belief (I will live a life of Health, gratitude, and Joyfulness). Many people buy into the label of a medical diagnosis and begin to accept the limitations that accompany it (I guess I’ll just have to take one/a dozen pill(s) every day). We, who are becoming new in mind, don’t accept it as truth and create a different outcome based on the new wineskin.
Renunciation – the formal rejection of something, typically a belief, claim or course of action
I think of a patient of ours who, after years of heart trouble and medications, decided that with proper stewardship his heart could heal and recover. Now in his sixties, his heart is healthy and he takes no medication. All because he renounced the old belief his medical diagnosis had created and embraced his new wineskin.
The fact of the matter is that all things are possible for those who believe.
Today I encourage you to examine any limiting beliefs you have about yourself and to embrace a new wineskin. Your life will be better and you will enjoy breakthrough greater than you ever thought possible.
Today’s your day. Be Blessed,
Dr Matt
